There exist several training programmes, lessons, courses, certificates, etc. to learn about hospitality and tourism.
WHAT MAKES US UNIQUE?
We combine e-learning with the principal of dual vocational education and the apprenticeship system. Our training system is designed similar to the worldwide most successful non-managerial hospitality education approaches from Switzerland, Germany and Austria without neglecting your country’s own sense of hospitality and specific knowledge requirements based on cultural and educational background.
Our dual vocational qualifications are officially recognised and quality assured and therefore, do not only allow our learners to become skilled international hospitality allrounders in all operational hospitality departments but also form the basis for further study admission world-wide.
Through our system, the learner receives online theoretical training and non-simulated on-the-job training in general knowledge required in the hospitality industry, general hospitality knowledge, foreign language and all non-managerial job roles in Housekeeping, Laundry, Food & Beverage, Front Office and basic Kitchen operations.
The theory transfer, learner support through our tutors and theoretical assessment are delivered through our e-learning platform Mainporter Campus.
The theory content is structured in modules that follow pre-defined paths and build on one another. Each learning module consists of interactive learning sessions containing:
Every learning session is accompanied by a homework session with immediate correction. The sessions, homework, and exams within a module have to be unlocked through successful processing of the previous. Additionally, all modules are locked for the learner and a new module can only be unlocked through successful completion of the previous module. By doing so, we ensure sustainable learning and avoid that learning content can be skipped or processed without full understanding.
To support our learners, our tutors – worldwide-based industry professionals – are available through our forum. It allows the learner to connect with other learners and his/her tutors to ask questions, raise issues or uncertainties or post answers to fellow learners’ questions.
At the same time practical, on-the-job training is conducted through a trainer in one of our verified employer establishments in the real work environment. Instead of training in a simulated work environment single tasks are repeated a couple of times, the learner trains the task of the designated occupation over many months, at real guests, in real life situations and through actually arising challenges. Whilst the programme chosen defines the number of mandatory months in each department, the employer is free to plan the departmental rotation, weekly schedule and vacation days according to establishment’s needs. As an apprentice employee, the learner is a full team number of in the hospitality establishment and learns all tasks of his/her job role in the day-to-day operations with support of the trainer. With each week completed in a department, the learner receives more and more duties and responsibilities – at the beginning he/she is constantly accompanied by the trainer whilst at the end the trainer only checks and provides feedback on result of the task performance the same way a supervisor does for every employee. This way, the learner grows into his/her job role step by step, develops the required routine to deliver quality service also in stressful and out of the ordinary situations and is able to networked- and solution-oriented thinking.
Our tutors check each learner’s development and quality of practical training through mandatory delivered pictures and videos for practical assignments and practical assessment.
All practical trainers train within the framework of our standards and are supported through an online trainer tool which allows also industry experts without intensive international hospitality and/or trainer experience to be a trainer. It includes Standard Operating Procedures and other templates for hospitality operations and training which can be partly adapted to establishment’s needs. Together with the trainer task summaries they form the framework for the on-the-job training through the trainer. In addition, all our practical trainers can access the same theory as the learner but with trainer notes and without access restrictions and quizzes. The Train-the-Trainer sessions rounds up the trainer tool and provides valuable tips and tricks how to be an on-the-job trainer in our dual vocational system.
